A greengrocer’s delight! A handyman’s dream!! The new single from the forthcoming album by The Bats – Foothills, to be released on November 13 on Flying Nun Records (of course) – is Gone To Ground. And here’s a look at the video for it, fresh out of the ovens of Sports Team’s filmmakers.
Prepare for spinning fruit and vegetables, mugs and masking tape, and barefoot axe work. All before a fiery conclusion – as all dancing fruit films must have.
Close watchers of The Bats might recognise the significance of all those images; everyone else can just move in time. Meanwhile, Gone To Ground is another slice of deceptively melancholic joy from a band who quietly like to remind you that they’ve been around with the same lineup, for longer than anyone. Yes, even than the Rolling Stones, who after all have an unfortunate habit of losing secondary members.
There’s more like that song on the new album, and if you’re wondering just what lies behind Foothills, here’s something we prepared earlier: my recent interview with bassist and producer, Paul Kean.
